Prepared to Answer

  • Windmill Ministries is going 'audio'. Besides reading about the evidences for the Christian faith, you can now also listen to them in your car, during a walk, at work or anywhere else that works for you. Last week we've have started to add brief, 'to-the-point', topical messages as well as some longer  'sermon-like' messages in our brand new  'Audio Center'.  You can also subcribe to our 'podcasts' at ITues (click on  ) or use our RSS feed (click on  ). Visit the 'Audio Center' for more information or just to listen on your computer. More messages will be added regularly.
  •  We just 'celebrated' the 6-month anniversary of the launch of our website. March has still a few days left, but thanks to a huge increase in traffic around Easter we should easy reach over 6,500 unique visitors for this month. That is a growth of more than 25% compared to the previous month.
  • Our ministry and website are bi-lingual: English and Dutch. Last month a litte over 22% of our visitors were from the Netherlands and Belgium (Dutch speaking). About 53% were from the USA, the remaining 25% came from a total of 114 other countries!
  • Prepared to Answer has now been available in English for about 3 months. Just recently it was reviewed by the Florida College in Temple Terrace, Florida who has subsequently added it to their bookstore. The book is now also available through Abe Books.  Additionally, you can find and search the content of the book on-line at Google's recently added Google's Book Search  feature.

 "Prepared to Answer"

5.0 out of 5 stars "Prepared to Answer" (a review that was posted on Amazon.com), December 26, 2007 :

It is rare that I write a review but have chosen to do so for "Prepared to Answer" because of the comprehensive coverage of the book. This book could be used as the textbook of choice in a university "apologetics" curriculum.
The quoting of source material is impressive from a multitude of  distinguished scientists such as Stephen Hawking, Carl Sagan, Michael Denton, Hugh Ross, Guillermo Gonzales, Jay Richards, T. N. Tahmisian (to name a few).
Most significant to me, the book researches many of the topics of concern that I needed to have answered on "my journey back to faith".  Whether you are a student or novice in the study of apologetics, you will  find this a valuable addition to your library.

Apologetics: The Great Men of History

“Who are the great men in human history?” What do these men have in common? What made them great? Compare them to Jesus of Nazareth. He did not pursue the agendas which made others great, still He towers above them all.

Ask anybody: “Who are the great men in human history?” Likely you will hear names such as Alexander the Great, Julius Caesar, Napoleon, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy, or perhaps even Ronald Reagan. What do these men have in common? What made them great? They were successful because they were powerful, and with this power they changed the course of history by their heroic actions, or by ruling countries or even whole continents.

Jesus had little of what made these great men of history great: certainly no political clout, no military machine, no war chest. Most of us know the basic facts about Jesus’ life and ministry, but still, read the following summary of the powerful impact of His message, His death and His resurrection:

“Jesus was born in an obscure village, the child of a peasant woman.

He grew up in another village where He worked in a carpenter shop until He was thirty.

For three years He was a traveling preacher. He never wrote a book.

He never held an office. He fathered no family; he owned no home. He didn’t go to college.

He never visited a big city. He never traveled more than two hundred miles from the
place where He was born. He did none of the things that usually accompany greatness.
He had no credentials but himself.
He was only thirty-three when the tide of public opinion turned against Him.
His friends ran away. One of them denied Him. He was turned over to His enemies and
went through the mockery of a trial. He was nailed to a cross between two thieves.
While He was dying, His executioners gambled for His garments, the only property
He had on earth. When He was dead, He was laid in a borrowed grave through the pity
of a friend.
Twenty centuries have come and gone, and today He is the central figure of the human race.
All the armies that ever marched, all the navies that ever sailed, all the parliaments that ever
sat, all the kings that ever reigned, put together, have not affected the life of man on this earth,
as much as that one solitary life.“

How different is Jesus compared to the great world leaders. Alexander the Great and Napoleon were fabled warriors – Jesus never held a sword or led an army. George Washington liberated his people from foreign occupation – Jesus never raised even His voice against the Roman occupiers of His country. Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy, and Ronald Reagan were all elected to head powerful governments – Jesus never ran for office. He never marshaled the power of government to enforce social changes. Most renowned leaders have been wealthy– Jesus owned little and lived with the poor. And lastly, all great world leaders were famous during their lifetime, but are dead now – Jesus died as a criminal and was executed by crucifixion, but His death was the birth of Christianity.

Jesus of Nazareth is by far the greatest person in history. He did not pursue the agendas which made others great, still He towers above them all. He turned the world upside down as no one had done before or has done after Him. Now one-third of the world population calls themselves His followers, Christians, and even those who do not follow Him still experience the impact He had, has had, and will have on the world. This observation alone sets Him aside from all others.

I Heard the Stories
Many Times

Inspiration and worship

“But because Jesus lives forever, He has a permanent priesthood. Therefore is able to save completely those who come to God through Him, because He always lives to intercede for them”.

(Hebrews 7:24)

I heard the stories many times
The stories of Jesus and His love
Over and over I heard the same lines
Speaking of wonders from above

But, it was for them and not for me
Because God was so far, far away
Back then he was there for all to see
But not now, no… not for me… today

Sometimes I thought I felt him close to me Sometimes I thought I heard His call
But that was just me ‘daydreaming again’ you see Because God was not here at all

Oh! I kept on wondering how it would have been To have Him with me every day
And all the miracles I could have seen
But… Jesus did not stay
He left me here on earth alone
Without telling me why
And the world felt cold as stone
But still…I knew it was not all a lie

Because Jesus was in Heaven above
And I would meet Him there one day
En then I could ask Him about His love
And why He could not stay

My heart grew lonely, sad and cold
With emptiness I could not fill
Even with things like money and gold
My heart kept quiet and still

And then one day I cried to God above:
“Oh Lord! I need you here and now!!
My heart is longing for your love
Please, can’t you come back somehow?”

O, that day! The most glorious day of all
He came down from Heaven just for me…
I couldn’t believe He heard my call!
But that day I saw Jesus in a friend you see

A friend who shared with me God’s love
And helped me find my Jesus…not just high above
She said that He was here for me today
And how He had been waiting all these years How He would come if I was willing just to pray To fill my emptiness and take away my tears….

So I prayed and yes! Jesus came
And filled my lonely heart
And now I forever will praise His name
Knowing that we will never be apart
So I hope that you will tell YOUR story
To friends that know his just by name
That they will find in YOU the living Jesus and His glory.
Because when you share, their lives will be like mine:

It will never be the same....
